You see, in order for steam heating systems to be energy efficient we need two main things: Fast steam and dry steam. The faster the steam moves, the less time the boiler runs. The drier the steam, the more BTUs it contains. What slows steam down? Inadequate venting, no or poor insulation, boiler short-cycling. What produces wet steam? Improperly installed boiler headers, no or poor insulation, poor water quality. So, what do we need for efficient steam heat? A correctly sized boiler, a properly piped steam boiler header, massive main venting, steam pipes insulated, and clean water with correct PH. Naturally we can help with all of these things.
